My mother-in-law happens to be a really nice woman but buying gifts for her isn’t easy. She’s in her early 80’s and doesn’t need a lot of things. At this stage of her life she’s giving things to her grandchildren (jewelry and whatnot) so things like jewelry aren’t a great gift idea. My mother-in-law is really into her family (especially her grandchildren)so I’ve been thinking about getting her a digital picture frame and loading it with family pictures. What do you think?

My mother’s birthday is in June (My dad’s is as well). Mother’s day is just before, in May. My parents’ anniversary is also in June. Yikes. Every year on May 1 I begin to plan my strategy. As a kid, I generally got away with buying only 1 “all-in-one” gift which I presented to my folks. This worked well especially since I have never been on time with any gift ever (but that’s another post)!

I couldn’t figure out what to get for my 11 year old daughter’s birthday gift. i needed to keep it somewhat reasonable and everything she wanted was pretty expensive. The thing she wanted most was a digital camera. I looked up Circuit City and found a reasonably priced camera, the Fuji Finepix S700 for about $249. Almost all the reviews were positive. Then I went to amazon.com and found the same camera for $198 with a 2 gig SD memory card thrown in. I ordered it and had it in 4 days (no special shipping.) She loves it and we’re all happy!

My 20th anniversary came and went this month. Can you believe that I bought nothing? And yet, somehow it was a very special anniversary for us anyway (or at least I thought so…).
